Choices

Transportation

Zoning, transit exchange placement and infrastructure decisions should align with long term transportation planning. Concentrating appropriate density around major transit corridors and exchanges can build ridership and create stronger connections between communities.

If elected, I would encourage Saanich Council to work with other municipalities and the CRD, rather than make isolated decisions today that limit transportation choices for tomorrow.

Saanich is growing, and our transportation system must grow and adapt with it. Council needs to continue thinking about how residents want to move, offering thoughtful options for drivers, transit, users, cyclists, pedestrians, and considering the island railway corridor as well. At the same time, Council needs to ask an important question: Is Saanich finding the right balance between calming everyday traffic and ensuring residents of all abilities can still get where they need to go in the way that works best for them?

Let's work together to implement good transportation planning that provides choices, improves safety and keeps Saanich moving.
